The Olde World Quilt Shoppe: About Us

About Us

Dee and Whitney are sisters that started quilting about 10 years ago. Dee lived in Phoenix and attended a beginning piecing class and encouraged Whitney to do the same in Tucson. They would get together monthly to attend classes and yearly for a week-long sewing session. Whitney eventually moved to Phoenix. They purchased a long-arm machine together and thought they might like to offer that service to others. Their own sewing rooms looked like fabric stores, and in the back of their minds, they thought they might want their own shop. After attending the 2007 quilt market in Salt Lake City and talking with several fabric reps and designers, they decided to seriously consider opening their own shoppe. Dee was working at home part time as a CPA with 2 kids in college. Whitney was a nurse with 3 small children. They both wanted to go back to work and thought working for themselves would be the best alternative. They opened The Olde World Quilt Shoppe in April 2008. In the fall of 2009, they were awarded a top ten quilt shop award by Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler Magazine. Their unique shoppe is known for its warm and inviting interior and gorgeous fabric selection, as well as informative classes taught by award winning quilters. They are a full service quilt shoppe carrying books, patterns and approximately 3500 bolts of fabric from leading manufacturers such as Moda, Andover, Robert Kaufman, Marcus Brothers, Maywood Studios and many more. They have a large selection of civil war reproduction, flannel, brushed cotton and woven fabrics, as well as a diverse selection of hand dyed wools. They are committed to introducing quilting to younger generations. Dee's 23-year-old daughter, Jordan, is part owner in the shoppe and a sounding board for younger generations of quilters and sewers. They love what they do and that drives their desire to be the best. They want others to be inspired to succeed in the craft of quilting and sewing. Their website offers you the latest fabrics, books, and kits with fast friendly service and speedy delivery.
